Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 July 2026 ·  Governing law: India

Not legal or tax advice. TaxWala is a tax preparation workspace — not a licensed CA firm, not the Income Tax Department, and not a legal advisory service. Information on this platform does not constitute professional tax advice. Always verify numbers and consult a qualified Chartered Accountant before filing.

1. About TaxWala

TaxWala (taxwalaai.com)("TaxWala", "we", "us", or "our") operates an online tax preparation workspace at taxwalaai.com. The platform helps salaried Indian taxpayers organise salary data, compare Old vs New tax regimes, compute indicative tax liability, prepare ITR draft packs, and optionally engage third-party Chartered Accountants (CAs) for a reviewed filing.

TaxWala is not the Income Tax Department of India, not a government portal, and not an authorised e-filing intermediary in an official capacity. The platform is a preparation and guidance tool only.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By registering an account, uploading documents, using any calculator, or otherwise accessing TaxWala, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

These terms apply to all users including free-tier users, paid subscribers, and CA professionals accessing the platform on behalf of clients.

3. Eligibility

You must be:

  • At least 18 years of age;
  • Resident or non-resident Indian taxpayer or an authorised representative; and
  • Legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under Indian law (Indian Contract Act, 1872).

4. Description of Services

TaxWala provides the following features (availability depends on plan):

  • Free calculators — Old vs New regime comparison, HRA exemption, Section 80C, capital gains, crypto tax, advance tax, and more.
  • ITR Preparation Workspace — Upload Form 16 (PDF), enter salary components, reconcile with AIS / Form 26AS, and generate a draft ITR data pack.
  • CA Review Handoff — Optionally engage a third-party CA professional to review your prepared case and file on your behalf.
  • Vault & Document Storage — Encrypted storage of uploaded documents (Form 16, Form 26AS, investment proofs) for the current filing season.

All computed values are indicative only. You are solely responsible for verifying accuracy before filing.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. TaxWala is only as accurate as the data you supply.
  • Verify all computed values (income, deductions, TDS credits) against your actual documents before submitting your ITR.
  • File your return on the official Income Tax Department portal (incometax.gov.in) or through your CA. TaxWala does not file on your behalf unless you have engaged a CA through the CA Connect plan.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential.
  • Not use the platform for any unlawful purpose, including fraudulent returns or misrepresentation of income.
  • Not reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the platform's code, algorithms, or proprietary content.

6. CA Engagement Model

Paid checkout is temporarily unavailable while commercial terms are under review.

If paid CA engagement is approved later, the applicable reviewed terms must be presented before checkout. TaxWala does not currently accept a new paid CA engagement.

Any future approved CA engagement will use this operating model:

  • CA Professionals are independent practitioners — they are not employees, agents, or partners of TaxWala.
  • TaxWala is a technology intermediary that connects you with CA Professionals and provides them with your prepared draft for review.
  • The CA Professional is solely responsible for the professional quality and correctness of their review and any return filed by them.
  • TaxWala does not guarantee any specific tax outcome or refund as a result of a CA-reviewed filing.
  • Any professional negligence claims must be directed at the CA Professional (and their insurer), not at TaxWala.

7. Pricing and Plans

Free calculators, regime comparison, and the DIY preparation workspace remain available without payment.

Paid checkout is temporarily unavailable while commercial terms are under review.

  • Free: Tax calculators, regime comparison, and basic workspace access. No payment required.

8. Commercial, Refund, and Cancellation Policy

Paid checkout is temporarily unavailable while commercial terms are under review.

No paid service terms, refund eligibility rules, cancellation windows, or processing timelines are published in this pending state.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on TaxWala — including but not limited to software, algorithms, UI design, text, logos, and data models — is owned by TaxWala or its licensors and protected under Indian copyright law (Copyright Act, 1957) and applicable international treaties.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.

You retain full ownership of your financial data and uploaded documents. By uploading, you grant TaxWala a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your data solely for providing the service.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

TaxWala is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • Tax computations will be free of error or will produce the same result as the Income Tax Department's official assessment.
  • The platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or virus-free, especially during peak filing season.
  • Extracted values from Form 16 PDF will be 100% accurate (OCR and AI extraction may have errors — always review manually).

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Indian law:

  • TaxWala's total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to TaxWala in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • TaxWala is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including loss of tax refund, penalties levied by the Income Tax Department, interest under Sections 234A/234B/234C, or professional losses.
  • TaxWala is not liable for errors arising from incorrect or incomplete information provided by you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TaxWala, its officers, employees, and technology partners harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the platform;
  • Your violation of these Terms;
  • Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights; or
  • Inaccurate information provided by you.

13. Modifications to the Service

TaxWala reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the entire platform at any time with reasonable notice. Paid subscribers will receive at least 14 days' advance notice of material changes that affect their plan.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [Jurisdiction City], India.

Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to attempt informal resolution by contacting us at [email protected]. We will attempt to resolve disputes within 30 days.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) or by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
